Hot Cocoa Mix

This is a great recipe to make in HUGE batches and give away as gifts.

2 cups powdered sugar
1 cup cocoa
2 1/2 cups powdered milk
1 teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons cornstarch
Hot water

Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl and incorporate evenly. Fill your mug half full with the mixture and pour in hot water. Stir to combine. Seal the rest in an airtight container, keeps indefinitely in the pantry. This also works great with warm milk.

About heylaydee

An average cook, an enthusiasm for experimenting and trying new things, is the reason for this blog. That and I found myself in the “empty nest” syndrome and needed an outlet. So I picked up the camera that was collecting dust, got out the pile of recipes, contacted friends and family for their favorites and starting cooking again. What could be better than a glass of wine, a hot stove, and creativity? Come along for the ride. I will be blogging about food, family, and anything else that inspires me.

  1. Hi Laura
I used to make batches of this when all the kids were home. Recently I had a batch of fudge that did not set, instead of recooking it, I use it to make very rich hot chocolate with a dolop of Irish Creme, yummy! Pretty tasty.

  2. Wow that does sound tasty! When the kids were little we used to float Peeps in their hot chocolate. Now that they are grown up? We still float peeps! This year I found snowman shaped Peeps.
