Go Fly A Kite!

Posted on

Saturday Chris and I decided to head over to Coos Bay and “go fly a kite”. We have one that we bought years ago and have only flown it a few times. It is one of those fighter/trick kites. So we take off from Myrtle Creek, early in the morning it is about 75 degrees, reported to get up in the 90’s. Great day to escape the heat!

An hour and 20 minutes later we arrive in Coosbay. The weather is TERRIBLE! Windy, cold, maybe 54 if the wind isnt blowing, there is no visibility.

So much for flying a kite! So we drove around till we found an area till we found a spot we liked for flying the kite and thought we would wait a bit and see if it didnt clear up. While there we saw this head pop up and it kept

bobbing up and down from the row of rocks in front of us. It was a guy that had a metal detector, he was looking for stuff in the sand. Well.. Chris thought it was funny to throw money out the window in the sand and watch him detect it, so out goes money. Below is him finding the money. Not sure he knew it was Chris but Chris had a good time with it.

After waiting an hour or more for the sun to appear we gave up and went back into town and cashed in a $25.00 chip that I had mistakenly taken home from the last trip there. We ate dinner there, a Low Carb one to boot! Chicken Inice, I even managed to pass on the bread! Chris enjoyed it so much he was picking it apart to reproduce at home. (Laura will reproduce it 🙂

So far Chris and I have lost approximately 5 lbs a piece. We can see more results in the inches than in the pounds, which is fine with me. The first two weeks are quite hard, and lots of temptations but I think we can make it. Only 7 more days, then we get to reintroduce whole wheat breads, brown rice, more veggies etc. It gets more like he way we were eating before we started this. The end of the second week will be the real test. Stay Tuned!

About heylaydee

An average cook, an enthusiasm for experimenting and trying new things, is the reason for this blog. That and I found myself in the “empty nest” syndrome and needed an outlet. So I picked up the camera that was collecting dust, got out the pile of recipes, contacted friends and family for their favorites and starting cooking again. What could be better than a glass of wine, a hot stove, and creativity? Come along for the ride. I will be blogging about food, family, and anything else that inspires me.
